A limestone gorge village on the Grand River, about 30 minutes from Hammer Haus. Stone buildings, good food, and the water always close. It's the kind of place you plan to spend an hour and end up staying for the afternoon.

The Gorge

The Elora Gorge is the centrepiece — a dramatic limestone canyon carved by the Grand River, with swimming holes, cliff jumping spots, and trails along the rim. In summer it fills up, so go early or on a weekday. The Elora Gorge Conservation Area has camping and tubing if you want to make a full day of it.

The Village

The main street runs along the river with independent shops, galleries, and restaurants in 19th-century stone buildings. The Elora Mill is the standout — a restored 1832 grist mill now operating as a hotel and restaurant with one of the best dining rooms in the region. Worth booking ahead even if you're just going for dinner.

Getting There
