St. Jacobs Village

A short drive from the city, St. Jacobs is one of Ontario's most visited villages — and it earns it. The main street runs just a few blocks, but there's enough here to fill a morning or an afternoon without trying.

The Stone Crock has been feeding people since 1975. Go for the buffet or just stop in for a butter tart and a look around the market shop. Next door, Jacob's Grill is the spot for a proper sit-down meal — the patio fills up on weekends, so arrive early or plan to wait.

La Crème is worth a stop for coffee and pastries. The flower baskets out front make it easy to spot. Pick up a bag of something from the bakery counter on your way out.

The farmers' market runs year-round on Thursdays and Saturdays. Mennonite vendors bring preserves, fresh bread, and produce straight from the farm. Buggies still pass through on King Street — it's not a show, it's just how some families get around.

Parking is free in the village lots off Spring Street. Give yourself at least two hours if you want to browse the shops properly.
